Memorable Wedding Speech
Wedding speeches are given by many different people at the wedding reception. Anyone who wants to say something to the newly married couple is usually welcome to say a few words but there are some people who are expected to speak whether they know what to say or not. The best man for example will make a wedding speech, as will the bride’s husband and the wedding couple themselves. What each person says in their wedding speech is something they will have to struggle with on their own. Finding the right words to show your appreciating, gratitude and love is not always an easy thing, as the couple knows if they wrote their own vows. If you are having a hard time finding what to say don’t let it get you down this is common. Some of the best speeches are ones where the speaker just winged it. And often once there the speaker throws out what he or she wrote anyways because inspiration hits. And really what is the worst that can happen? You fail to say something utterly charming and witty? Big deal you friends will still love you.
A wedding speech is a perfect way to thank everyone for all that they have done and a way to savor the moment. To sit back and drink in all of the bliss. This moment will never come again so take some time to cherish it and remember it for all eternity. It is tradition for the best man to give the first wedding speech but there is no reason why tradition cannot be bucked if you have a better idea. It is common for the best mans toast to talk about how he first met the couple and how much he honors their friendship he then goes on to wish them all the best in their new life. This is pretty basic if you are the one giving the speech you can tell some funny anecdotes to liven up the speech. Everyone loves to laugh.
There was a time when standing was the thing to do after a wedding speech was made but this is not so today. Now raising a glass is how the wedding speech is acknowledged. You will understand why when you consider how many wedding speeches there will probably be. If everyone were getting up and down after every speech, well, that would just be silly. Everyone will want to say thank you and best wishes but unless you want to put your guests to sleep or have them pass out from hunger you are going to have to keep the speech section of the evening relatively short. Champagne is the traditional drink of choice during the wedding speeches but you will need to have alternatives available for those who do not drink and those who will be the designated drivers that evening. Sparkling cider or ginger ale are good choices. Don’t forget when planning that the wedding is also about your guests having fun, not just the bride and groom.
