“Wedding” Photography?

If you have begun the shopping for your wedding you have most likely run across some fantastic sounding package deals. You will undoubtedly find people in your travels that will offer you’re the dress, the catering and the photography all in one fell swoop. It may sound great and the price is phenomenal but what are you really getting for all of your hard earned money? Of course you want to hire a wedding photographer but don’t you want him or her to take pictures at the actual wedding? I ask because many wedding photographers never even come to the wedding. They set up an appointment with you weeks in advance for you to come to their studio. You go, you dress up, and pictures are taken. I don’t know about you but to me that is not a wedding photograph. That is a picture of two people pretending to be married. None of the joy and excitement will be captured in your faces because you have not just gotten married yet. So before you choose your wedding photographer or sign up for some package deal make sure to ask the photographer how they do the wedding pictures.

There are many photographers that feel they are more like directors. They want to pose you in all sorts of silly ways in order to get the picture they have in their head. And most of these pictures the bride and groom end up hating. You need to be able to say no to your photographer. If they tell you to do something you hate for a picture just say no, you are the boss not him. Your wedding should be a celebration of your love for each other and the pictures should reflect that. Choose a photographer who will stay for the entire reception and take pictures freestyle. You will find that some of the best pictures are taken when know one was expecting it. These are the pictures of pure joy and happiness that you want to be able to show your grandkids. Of course you will still probably want to get some pictures taken of just the two of you all pretty on a nice grassy hill or something and that is fine, just don’t limit your wedding photography to that.

Choose a wedding photographer who is not just about the money, one that wants to get to know you before the wedding so that he knows just who it is he wants to capture on film. This is a true photographer, one that will get the best pictures. The photojournalistic approach is the best choice in wedding photography. This will leave you with photographs of everyone having fun and being in love. While there may be some posing for the camera it will appear as natural as possible. The photographer that uses this approach will be capturing the spirit of the occasion, which is perfect. This way no matter what you look like by the end of the evening in the pictures the happiness and love will be there and in the end that is what makes for great pictures.
