Wedding Jewels for Wedding Rings

Weddings are surrounded by jewelry. There is the engagement ring, the wedding rings for him and for her, and the jewels that the bride and her bridesmaids are going to wear for the walk down the isle. So many jewels and where are you supposed to start when trying to decide which to pick? Tough question. The wedding rings are a good place to start. Even if you have decided on the metal that you want your wedding rings to be made out of you are only half done, next you have to decide on the stone or stones that you want incorporated. And how many do you want? Is his ring going to have stones as well? These are all very important questions that the happy couple is going to have to deal with.

Wedding rings traditionally have diamonds as their central stone but that does not mean that you have to have them. If you want something with a little color there is nothing stopping you. The only important thing to consider when deciding on the jewels to use in your wedding rings is the hardness of the stones. You see, diamonds are a good choice not only because they are gorgeous but also because they are ultra-hard. This hardness means that the ring is going to stand the test of time. For the next 50,60,70 years that stone is going to last. Many other stones, while pretty cannot offer you this long lasting quality. In fact some stones will not last more than a few years of everyday wear and tear. You do not want to be buying a new stone for your ring all of the time, you want the same ring and the same stone to last you the entire length of your life. The jewels that you incorporate into your wedding jewelry do not need to be so tough. If you want a smashing necklace of a soft stone then you should have that necklace. This jewelry does not actually have to withstand time. All it needs to do is last long enough for you to get down the isle. Of course it will probably last you for years to come because you will not be wearing it every single day like you do your wedding ring.

There is one stone that is popular with both men and women and that is moissanite. The trend of moissanite wedding rings for men is skyrocketing. This amazing stone was found in meteorites and is second in hardness only to diamonds. In fact, this stone looks so similar to diamonds that it takes sophisticated equipment to tell them apart. Moissanite is also outperforms diamonds in the brilliance arena. It is as beautiful a stone as a diamond but it is not as expensive. Wedding rings are a tradition that has endured for hundreds of years. They are a perfect symbol a couple’s love and everlasting commitment to one another. No matter what they are made of or what wedding jewels are in them they need to be cherished and taken care of just as you take care of each other.
